The journey continues...
You climb into a loft. A figure looks up at you from where she sits at a small writing desk. "Move that pile of books so you can sit down," she suggests. "Brush away the dust if it bothers you. It will find another resting place or perhaps blow away on the ocean breezes."
She peers at you over the rim of her reading glasses. You feel vulnerable, exposed. "So," she says, "what's your story?
You tell her. She suggests you write it down, but you say you don't know how.
"This handy grammar/punctuation website starts off at the elementary level," she tells you and clicks a link on the page she's previewing: EdHelper.com.
Her voice is perky, and you can't help but be drawn in by it and her friendly manner. She continues on enthusiastically.
"This article is about screenwriting in particular, but I really like the author's 'eight keys to successful writing'":
The Write Focus by Don Vasicek
"A practical newsletter about grammar and punctuation is offered by grammarcheck.com."
"And you need to make sure your narrative uses active verbs. Read this excellent article, Passive vs. Active Voice, from Daily Writing Tips."
You thank her. "If you need more help later and can't find me here, try me at my office," she says and wishes you well on your continuing journey.
